Having the right cabling is crucial in any security camera installation. While most people tend to focus on the cameras and the network video recorder (NVR), it’s important to remember that the cables connecting them are just as important.
At Alpha Cameras and Security , we use Cat5e CMR Riser Cable Pure Copper UL listed for indoor installations, and for outdoor installations that are exposed to the elements or buried underground, we use outdoor-rated Ethernet cables.
Our Cat5e cables are designed to withstand interference and provide a stable and secure connection between your cameras and NVR. These cables are suitable for 1 Gigabit speed and 2.5 Gigabit (2.5GBASE-T) speeds up to 328 feet. They are bandwidth tested up to 350 MHz, making them ideal for high-resolution cameras.
The overall foil shield helps eliminate cross-talk and prevents electromagnetic interference (EMI). This is particularly important when you have multiple cameras connected to the same switch. Our Cat5e cables also support Power over Ethernet (PoE/PoE+/PoE++ IEEE 802.3af/at/bt) 4PPoE up to 100W.
We also use pure solid bare copper conductors in our cables. This material is superior for data transmission and PoE use, making it the only industry and government-approved type of conductor for use in Ethernet networks. Our cables comply with UL, ANSI/TIA, and US product safety standards.
For clients who require a higher gauge cable, we also carry and install Cat6 cables. These cables are not necessary for normal installations, but they are useful if you’re planning to install cameras 700 feet or more away from your NVR.
At Alpha Cameras and Security, we understand the importance of having the right cables in your security camera installation. That’s why we only use high-quality cables that are designed for security camera systems.
